1- Suppose a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack shuts down two dozen major websites, including your email server, Amazon.com, Google.com and Facebook.com. The attack is traced to one of the following perpetrators. Discuss if different penalties are appropriate depending on which perpetrator it is. Explain why and how these penalties would be different. (12 points)

a. A foreign terrorist who launched the attack to cause billions of dollars in damage to the U.S. economy.

b. An organization publicizing its opposition to commercialization of the web and corporate manipulation of consumers.

c. A teenager using hacking tools he found on a website.

d. A hacker group showing off to another hacker group about how many sites it could shut down in one day.

2- Pick something that you think should NOT be allowed on the Internet. Try to make it close to the boundary of what you think SHOULD BE allowed, but still something that you are convinced should NOT be allowed.

a. Figure out the current legal status of what you picked, either in the US, or in any country that you have lived in.

b. Cite at least 2 laws that pertain to your topic using APA formatting of legal citations.

c. Argue why it should NOT be allowed, making your argument as logical and complete as you can.

d. Write a new law (use existing laws as examples of how to format a law) that covers your point of view.
