Doors should be solid core

Doors should not open out except as required by building codes

Door locks should provide both daytime locks and 24-hour locks

Door hinges should be fixed to the frames with a minimum of three hinges per door and welded to prevent the removal of the hinge pin

Keys and Locks

Keyed locks are the most common and acceptable way to secure areas and property

They keep honest people out, but unauthorized people who wish to gain access can often force them, pick locks, or duplicate keys

Locks should, therefore, be used in combination with other controls to provide reliable security
