Personal
· What are your client’s best qualities?
· How does your client describe his/her positive qualities?
· How would you characterize your client’s sense of worth?
· What skills and potential does your client possess; for example, artistic or athletic talents, technological expertise, leadership, capacity for work?
· What are the indicators of resilience in your client; for example, the attributes of intelligence, sense of humor, optimism, creativity?
· What helps your client get through the day?
· Does your client have any hopes or dreams for his or her future, and, if so, does he or she make specific plans to pursue them?
· Does your client have a positive relationship with you and is able to accept your offer to help?
Family
· To what degree is the family of origin, current family, spouse, or significant other available to provide support for your client?
· What type of support, resources, or assistance does the client’s family (or current family, spouse, or significant other) provide for your client?
· Is your client’s family psychologically healthy, communicative, stable, and supportive?
· Is your client’s family resilient; for example, have affirming belief systems, facilitative organizational patterns, and positive communication processes?
· Does your client have a caring and supportive intimate partner relationship?
Group
· Are there friends, neighbors, coworkers, or fellow students available to help and/or support your client?
· Does your client have any positive peer relationships?
· Does your client belong to supportive groups; for example, social clubs, recreational or counseling groups?
· If your client is involved in group opportunities, does he or she find them pleasurable and self-fulfilling?
· Does your client benefit from his or her group affiliations?
Organizations
· Does your client belong to any organizations that are sources of strength and/or support; for example, a church, synagogue, social service agency, counseling center?
· Are there appropriate services and resources available to assist your client?
· Does your client see the organizations involved in his or her life as a resource?
· What specific benefits (and support) does your client receive?
· Does your client receive any special benefits; for example, financial help, advising, counseling, mutual aid support?
· If your client is working or going to school, does he or she perform well?
Community
· Does your client have adequate environmental resources; for example, housing, transportation, food?
· Does your client know how to access help?
· Does your client have a network of community relationships?
· Does your client feel positive about his or her community affiliations?
· What ethnic/cultural opportunities are available in your client’s community?
