Leading People Week 10 DQR

When responding to at least two of your peers' postings, your responses should show that you have given thought to what the original post said. They should also push the conversation forward, offering insights or asking clarifying questions if necessary.

Consider the following questions:

· Does your response push the conversation forward?

· Does your response offer your perspective?

· What about your peers' stories can you relate to?

· What can you learn from your peers' stories?

· Are your responses clear?

· Have you considered the viewpoints or insights of the posts?

This semester has helped me see where I am as far as a leader and how I can become an exemplary leader by using the five practices of exemplary leadership (Kouzes, 2021). This semester not only taught me to use these skills to become a solid leader in my career but also my personal life. I also believe with building my skills I can also instill leadership skills and behaviors in my 2yr old even if it is preparing her for pre-school (lol).  Even though this was my first semester as a grad student I believe taken this class as the very first class set high expectations for the remaining courses I need to take for my degree.

Some of the challenges in this course where time management, deciphering on the best way to apply what I read to completing a solid Adaptive toolkit and personal plan in my final project. Even though the paper was not “real life” it makes me somewhat nervous when it comes time for me to approach these situations in my future career in a VUCA world of work.

When looking into the future of leadership style and behaviors using AI, I’m unsure how it would be to adapt for all leaders depending on their personal style. With technology this can be good for the newer generations because they were raised in the technological lifestyle which I believe makes them dependent on this. As for older generations who are unfamiliar with a basic computer and smart phone may find it more complicated and not easy to adjust. Then again, leading an organization is based off trust, communication, shared values and positive interaction with your team (Kouzes,2021)

As for the challenges with AI in the future the best thing leaders can do is remain calm and always remember that no matter how advanced technology can be a leader will always be able to enable the heart, build a better relationship with co-workers, employees and customers/clients. I see my future and those I am leading in a organization still being able to take what I’ve learned in this class as a human who will have to adapt to working with un human technology that may be smarter but without emotion, past experience and connection with your team, AI is just another computer

Hi Class,

I enjoyed the learning curve that was thrown at me when starting this course. As it has been a while since I have taken classes I was nervous but have come to enjoy the experience. Throughout this term I came to understand how being a leader is not just about improving ourselves but also others. I have also gained knowledge of which direction to take to continue to grow and improve in my leadership skills so that it is beneficial to my work. My experience with this course has helped me gain an understanding of how the MBA program related to my current work and how to best manage the time spent on assignments.

One of the challenges I faced was time management and being able to plan out my week to complete the assignment due for each module. I found that planning ahead for each week helped me to structure my assignments in a way that there was a target for when each section needed to be completed. By doing this, I was able to manage my time more efficiently and I did not feel too stressed when a deadline was approaching. Being able to manage my time has greatly helped me with my own time management skills at work, especially in this VUCA world where adaptability is essential for an organization to thrive. I hope that future courses will continue to help me expand my knowledge and provide opportunities for me to learn more skills that contribute to building my leadership abilities.

The fourth industrial revolution has brought change to how organizations should be operating. As Bouchouar (2015) found, it is necessary for businesses to have a prominent role in preparing the current workforce for the change’s automation will inevitably bring to the workforce. The organization needs to ensure that its leaders are well equipped with the knowledge needed to best lead their direct reports. With the reliance on technology, it is easy for leaders to fall behind in their leadership skills. It is easier to send an email or text than it is to schedule a meeting that matches everyone’s schedule. Leaders must be able to adapt to the ever-changing demands of their environment and place greater importance on ensuring their team is working towards the same goal. Face-to-face meetings are important in creating a collaborative work environment which is a leading factor in fostering an efficient and productive team. As organizations become increasingly diverse and globally dispersed, collaborative skills are essential to navigating the conflicting interests and natural tensions that arise (Kouzes & Posner, 2021).      Considering the challenges of the VUCA world, I hope to expand my knowledge on how to best lead my team more effectively. I hope to delve deeper into how to exhibit leadership skills more consistently and how to best communicate my vision to enable my team to buy into where I would like to lead them.

Thank you for an informative class! I hope everyone has enjoyed learning more about their leadership skills through this course, and I wish you all luck for the rest of the program.
