Leadership Statement

Leaders have an influence in our world. They have dreams, ambitions and missions that help them go far. A leader only achieves these dreams by having powerful qualities like leadership values, strengths, and practices. When a leader develops and learns how to use these correctly, they can accomplish great things. In this essay, I talk about my leadership statement by considering my core values, strengths, role models and other factors that make me an influential leader.

Reflecting on myself as a leader, I would define leadership as the ability to create conditions and environment that leads your followers to get done what needs to be done. I can only achieve this by identifying and improving my core leadership values. These values help a leader determine how they want to achieve their goals and what type of leader they want to be. Some of my core values are dedication, service, personal development, respect, integrity, passion, resilience and vision. These values are very vital for me because they influence my core purpose as a leader. As a leader, I am here to lead by example and influence my followers towards becoming a better version of themselves while achieving mutual organizational goals. Also, I think the reason anyone would follow me is the fact people appreciate my energy, determination and assertiveness in the few leadership positions I have held in college and high school.

I like to think of myself as a transformational and democratic leader. As a leader, I seek to achieve a mutual group by inspiring my followers to innovate. I enjoy finding better ways of getting things done (Nanjundeswaraswamy & Swamy, 2014). Therefore, I inspire and empower others. I believe effective communication is an important skill that every leader should have. There are several ways of communicating with my followers which include written communication. I would communicate through emails, messages and presentation to notify my team about meetings, agendas, reminders and other important thing.

Growing up, I have had various role models depending on which phase of life I was in. However, two leaders have been my role models and inspiration. These are Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou. These phenomenal leaders exude confidence, power and everything I envision myself as a leader.

I believe leadership is about use of my given power to encourage my followers to become better, challenge my team towards growth, and employee motivation. Employees are the most valuable assets in an organization, and I hope to treat them well. This is in line with my core values, like personal development and service.

Leadership comes with expectation from a leader and from the team members. Thus, my followers and team members can expect an open-minded leader, team-player, and a role model. I expect team members who are team players, goal-oriented, passionate, committed to make the dream work and visionary. I expect to follow the footsteps of my role models and become an influential leader. Also, I expect to influence others through my behaviours and actions.
