What Happens To Toxic Leaders Once They Are Removed?

Introduction

Toxic leadership has impacted international relations, led to the downfall of nations, and hampered progress, among other negative consequences (Zaman et al., 2022). Those who work under toxic leaders at both the organizational and national levels are pushing to find ways to remove them from positions of power. Such leaders may face difficulty once they are removed from power, depending on their crimes and the toxicity of their actions. What happens once toxic leaders are removed will be the focus of this research.

Purpose of the study

The research has three key goals. The first goal is to gather data that clarifies what it means to be a toxic leader. The second goal is to gather data on what happens to the most poisonous leaders after they have been ousted from power. The third goal is to see if the penalty meted out to toxic leaders is effective in changing their behavior or preventing others from becoming toxic leaders.

Outline of the study

Two key actions will take place in order to discover what occurs when toxic leaders are removed from office or positions of power. The first step is to recognize toxic leadership and its traits. The second exercise will be to perform a literature review on those who have been identified as toxic leaders and removed from power. Three articles will be reviewed in total. The third exercise will be to conduct research on the chosen subject. The study will be conducted utilizing a qualitative research method.

Literature Review

To learn what happens when toxic leaders are removed from office or positions of power, two key activities will be taken. Toxic leadership and its characteristics must first be identified. The second task will be to conduct a literature review on persons who have been identified as toxic leaders and have been removed from positions of power. In total, three articles will be reviewed. The third activity will be to undertake research on the subject of your choice. A qualitative research method will be used to conduct the study.

How Toxic Leadership Brought Down the Enron Empire

In 1st December 2001, Enron filed for bankruptcy. The company bankruptcy rattled the nation for a while. The company had overstated its profits for almost three years to seem profitable while in reality, it was not (Zakia Benzoubeier, 2019). Four months before the company declared bankruptcy, the company’ s CEO Jeffrey Skilling attempted to resign and sold his over $50 million stakes in the company. Unfortunately, when the company went down Jeffrey also went down with it.

Methodology and Research Design

Three qualitative methodologies will be employed to get further information on the study issue. Narrative, phenomenological, and case study approaches are among the methods used.

Summary

The study will reveal how negative toxic leadership and its possible ramifications. The ramifications will not only be on the victims but also on the perpetrators.
