What did you find to be compelling and enlightening? What advice on strategic planning could you give me?
Strategic planning focus on how to add more values to the organization and how to transformer the company to meet the market needs. These considerations include a focus on customers, markets, company finances, and innovation. Strategic planning needs to consider the integration of all organization's levels in the decision. Consider hiring a diverse workforce and incorporate teamwork and team decisions in the plan to execute and optimize the implementation of the final decision to help with the company's desired growth. Strategic planning uses SWOT analysis to help anticipate threats, know strength, and prevent losses (Kolzow, & Swager, 1999). The model I find to be the most useful for strategic planning is the issue-based strategic model. The model considered more valuable because it focused on the present and work toward the future. It is oriented to discover potential issues and identify future challenges for the organization and the environment it operates in. The issue-based strategic planning model aims toward providing solutions in the long term and short-term. The model focuses on the existing process and study all internal and external elements that affect the organization's operations. With this model, leaders can identify problems and create goals for employees to follow. Strategic planning elements, as described in the case study in Chapter 10, are identified as remaining sustainably competitive in the market where leaders have to consider technology and innovation and invade other markets outside of their business. Attract more customers, optimize shareholders' values and employees’ benefits (Using the project management maturity model; strategic planning for project management, 2005). Leaders should plan for a strategy that fits the organization and its operations. Also, learn how to delegate, understand their industry, and compatible cultures. Provide values for the employees, customers, and investors. Leaders need to work on the delegation of plans and integration of the company's employees. The selected strategic planning model of choice is the issue-based strategic model. The issue-based strategic model illustrated the efficacy of the strategic plan in the leader strategy in the case study because it helps create an idea on how to adapt to the rapid shifting in the industry. The model helps create a proactive approach for exploring new markets and targets innovation and technology rapid changes. The model helps in the integration of the strategic plan with the organization's mission. And guide on how to lead strategically to ensure the strategic plan fits the organization and provides values to shareholders, staff, and clients. The model focuses on the present and anticipates the future, making it an excellent fit for the case study.
