Capital budgeting is a heated subject in the boardroom simple because the decisions being made in that room will impact the overall business. All big projects that are going to impact the entire business must be presented in the boardroom setting with the senior executive team. The big decisions about investments being proposed to be implemented at the company is discovering if it is even worth to be invested in. Financial commitments and investments are both being made in this room as well. This is also why “these projections are seriously in error, then we have a classic GIGO, or garbage in, garbage out” type of system in place that can become detrimental over the years. (Ross, Westerfield, & Jordan. 2020)

With companies’ financial health and organization promotes the capital budgeting by setting the ground rules for the company. Looking at the net capital value cost, for the company to be in the green, the cost of the cost of the capital must be lowered. This gives the company the option to either approve the investment or reject it. It also helps with the financial health of the company over an extended period. There were “six key benefits from smart grid projects namely reliability, economics, efficiency, environmental, safety and security and how these are linked to the major technologies implemented to smart grid” that helped with describing this. (Padmini, Omran, Chattergee, & Khaparde. 2017)

Understanding all these areas will help with determining what route to go. Promoting financial health within my organization I have used the SWOT analysis before in the past. When getting hired for my current job, I utilized the SWOT to discover what the current strengths of the company was and its weaknesses. This helped me navigate to bring in different ideas within the organization particularly my department and implement new processes.
