Questions 4 and 5
Family tension tends to cause most of my internal conflict. Coming from an Indian family and being one of the eldest sons, I have a lot to live up to. Family tends to be success-oriented and therefore has a lot of expectations. Siblings and relatives look up to me to set a good example by excelling in my studies and career. Hence, the expectations and pressure to succeed in my family’s eyes result in considerable worry and stress. Religion is the most likely to cause tension and conflict with others as it comes with several stereotypes. Hindus are sometimes viewed as unfriendly, cliquish, unemotional, snobbish, uncivilized, terrorists, and cheap. I haven’t experienced these stereotypes, but I can vouch for fellow Indians I know.
