Attached is how to handle it.
Consider the evidential issues arising in the following case.
April was walking along a poorly lit road in the early evening when she was attacked and robbed. Percy is charged with the robbery. He denies the charge. At his trial, i) April gives evidence that the attack was over in seconds but she had a good view of her attacker as it took place near a street light and that she recognised Percy as he was her ex-boyfriend. ii) The prosecution wishes to call Sally, a self-taught expert in footprints to give her opinion that based on a new but controversial method she has devised, she is sure that indistinct footprints found at the scene of the robbery were made by shoes later found to belong to Percy.
