The Last Lecture – What moved you?
There was an expectation of this video as to why it was named “The Last Lecture”, I was curious to hear what he had to say that would influence my life or was he presenting some kind of soft skills. While that was true to an extent, I’ am impressed the way he presented it and how wholesome his speech was. What moved me in the video, was the enthusiasm of Randy in addressing and explaining the attainment of children’s dreams. Despite being diagnosed with cancer with very little time to live, Randy was able to strongly express how one would attain their dreams. The confidence and the strength he utilized to guide and explain on dream attainment were quite moving. On top of that, his high spirits despite being a cancer patient were motivating and increasing one’s hope in attaining his or her dreams.
The video is inspiring and highlights how we can accomplish our childhood dreams. What moves me about this lecture is when he explains that the brick walls or hurdles we encounter when trying to achieve something in life are actually effective in proving how badly we want to achieve something. If brick walls or the hurdles stop people from achieving something, then you never wanted to achieve the goal or objective. Now, overcoming that goal or objective proves that you really wanted to achieve that goal.
Another moving aspect from this lecture is that indirect learning is given through other activities other than learning. Our parents and guardians send us to sporting activities such as swimming, playing soccer or basketball. They really are not focused on us being effective in sports, but they want us to gain other lessons important for our live, such as perseverance and teamwork. At an era when teamwork as proved to be effective in schools and workplace, it is important to learn how to work together as a team.
