Change is one of the things that any organization in the world has to worry about in today’s workforce. The workforce of today is different to that of 10 years or even 5 years ago. The 2020 workforce will be mainly influenced by the entrance of millennial in to the job market. This generation of workforce cares about bringing change to the world through the work they do. The management of the 2020 workforce will be different from that of today. This workforce will require constant directions from the supervisor. However, the 2020 workforce will have a great desire to autonomy and freedom from constant scrutiny by the director.

The 2020 workforce will also be characterized by a change of behavior brought about by the rapid change in technology. For instance, there will be an increase in the use of social media in the workplace than in any other generation of workforce. The positive side of this is that social media encourages the employees to collaborate with their peers and share ideas which will help the organization to achieve its objectives. This will help to cultivate the spirit of group work in the company which will be as a result of the increased collaboration. However, the increase in the use of social media will have its limitations; for instance, there will increased wastage of time due to the usage of social media in the workplace. This time can otherwise be used to perform productive activities in the company.

For instance, employees will be able to work from anywhere through devices like mobile phones and computers (Novis, 2011). The change in working style will mean that the company will have to change its structure formation to for instance a cloud type structure which will enable the employees to access the company’s files remotely. This has the advantage that there will be a reduction in the company’s production costs because it will require a reduced number of employees. However, remote access of the company’s files has the limitation that it increases risk of the com[any losing or the exposure of sensitive information to the public or any other group without the necessary authentication.

Workforce in 2020 will also require companies to develop new methods to motivate their employees in order to retain them. The Bike company will need to upgrade its existing techniques as well develop new ones to be able to compete in the labor market.
