LinkedIn: How to Search for Alumni

1. On the LinkedIn homepage, locate the SEARCH bar.

2. Type in your school’s name and select the account. For example: Type in FIU or Florida International

University.

3. Once on the school account’s page, select ALUMNI.

4. On the Alumni page, you can search by their job title, company they work for, or any other keyword.

For example: If I am interested in looking up FIU Alumni that work for or have worked for Google, I

will type Google into the alumni search bar.

5. A list of results will appear, if applicable. For example: My search resulted in 78 alumni working or

having worked at Google and links to their profiles will appear. You will only be able to view the

profiles if they are public.

a. TIP: If you have shared connections, ask your connection for an introduction!

6. Another way to search for alumni is by searching directly for the company you are interested in. For

example: I am interested in searching for alumni that work or have worked at Google. Type in

Google in the homepage SEARCH BAR.

7. Once on the company’s page, locate and select PEOPLE.

8. In the PEOPLE search bar, type the name of your school. A list of results will appear, if applicable.

For example: My search results in 107 Google employees listed FIU as “Where they studied”, and

links to their profiles will appear. You will only be able to view the profiles if they are public.
