Lab Seven Assignment - Research

Assignment:

· Using the Collin Library Databases (most especially Opposing Viewpoints or Academic Search Complete), find two articles for your Argument Research essay.

What to turn in:

· Type out the steps you took to find the articles (how did you narrow your topic?, what search terms you used, did you have to go back and revise your search terms?, how did you decide which articles would work the best?, did you look at more than one article before you chose?)

· Cut and paste in the MLA citation/documentation information for the articles (you do not have to turn in printed copies of the articles with this assignment)

· Type out 3 interesting facts/ideas/quotes you learned from each of the articles (for a total of 6 interesting facts)

Lab Eight Assignment – Extended Annotation

Assignment:

· Write a precis for one of the articles you found for Lab Seven

· A precis is a substantive paragraph (usually a page long) that offers a summary of the research article and an evaluation of how the research can be incorporated into your own writing on the topic (it is usually ¾ summary and ¼ evaluation).

· Type the precis in MLA format, incorporating these details:

· Use MLA format:

· Last name and page number in the upper right corner

· 4 line heading

· Double spacing throughout

· Title should be the MLA bibliographic citation for the article
