From the data collected, Force applied to the spring can be calculated:

𝐹 = 𝑚𝑔 = 50𝑔 × 1𝑔1000 𝑘𝑔 ×9. 8 𝑚/𝑠 2

= 0. 49 𝑁

From this result, table and figure below will showed the value of force applied to the

spring and the displacement of spring from equilibrium during eight different masses:

From the data, the slope of the trendline is the result of the calculation:

k = (2.94N – 0N) / (0.495m – 0m) = 5.94 (N/m)

Then, the total work done can be calculated according to Trendline and integration:

𝑊 = 12 𝑘𝑥 2

= 12 ×5. 94×(0. 495 𝑚) 2

= 0. 7277 𝐽

Beside, the work done can also be calculated by the data collected:
