Lab 3 – Normalization Lab

Purpose:

The purpose of this lab is to get you used to normalization

Overview of the problem:

You will be developing a system that allows the college to keep track of faculty activities. In addition to teaching, each faculty member must complete outside activities. These activities fall into four categories

A) Scholarship of Teaching

B) Scholarship of Discovery

C) Scholarship of Integration

D) Scholarship of Application

This means that one faculty member could do several activities that are categorized in one of these four categories.

In the end, this report must be produced and sent to our accreditor:

What you are doing:

You have been tasked with creating a system where faculty can upload their activities and it produces this report in the end

Deliverable:

· ERD

· Database Schema

· This should include all of your fields and their types

· Data Dictionary

· Decision document

· This is hugely important here!!!!

· Document answering what form the database is in and why
