EXPERIMENT 1: MICROSCOPIC ANATOMY OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

Visualizing the microscopic anatomy of the respiratory system will aid in your understanding of its function.

PROCEDURE

1. Open the slide viewer to examine the trachea digital slide image. Observe the smooth muscle layer, the cartilaginous rings,

and the pseudostratified ciliated epithelium.

2. Next, examine the lung tissue digital slide images. Observe the bronchiole and thin squamous epithelium lining around the

alveoli.

3. Record your observations in Table 1.
