Task 1: Create four maps using social explorer (you learned how to use social explorer in lab 9).

For first Map, I choose Shaded Area visualization type, Because It is my favourite type of map. It clearly shows us the Population 25 Years and Over: Bachelor's Degree or More. I can see the different percentage of each states. It really helps people to see details of different searching. Most of population 25 years and over Bachelor’s degree or more are between 20% to40%. I think the specific population number and average need to included on the map. Q1

Task 2: Write About the Maps

1. Answer: The decision I have made is Dot Density visualization type. The color I have chosen is orange. The topic is Total population (ACS 2017). I click on the color part, because orange is more clearly, and I try to see Philadelphia part then I click on Pennsylvania .

2. For data, I have chosen is married age in 2017. There are a lot of data shows me , which include the age between 15 to 20, 21 to15, 26to 30, 30more, and all ages of people include first time married or second time married or more.

3. The geographical pattern is very clear, I will choose the job in the city first. If I lose my job, I will have the opportunity to look for other jobs in the city, because the job opportunities in the city are much larger than those in the countryside, so the densely populated city becomes my main choice.

4. I think it is normal for this pattern to emerge, because people's ideas about job opportunities are unified. I think most people would choose to work in the city rather than the countryside.

5. The data limit I used was limited to one age group. I could not look at the work choices of specific age groups, such as 32 years old. I could only choose one age group, such as 20 to 25 years old#2

For the third map I have chosen shaded area like first map, because it is clearly for me, and my topic is Households: less than $10.000 ACS 2017 (5 year Estimates). we can clearly see the density in center city part and southern Philadelphia is higher than other area.

The last position I have chosen is New york city. I have chosen Shaded area as same as last one. The topic I have chosen is Households: More than $20,000 (ACS 2017 5 years Estimates) It is clearly shows me in middle part of NYU the percentage is around 20% to75%.

3. Conclusion

Through this LAB, I have accumulated enough map experience and mastered how to select data and study data skillfully.This LAB can teach students step by step how to find different information according to different data, which is really important. I have learned a lot.
