Question and its background

We discussed the well-known hacker Kevin Mitnick in class. Much of his expertise as a hacker was gained in the 1980s, when there was no World Wide Web, and the Internet was in its infancy. He used social engineering as well as technical knowledge to break into many systems.

Look up the history of Kevin Mitnick using a search tool like Google and first find out what he used more, technology or social engineering. Second, find out if he was caught, convicted, or served time. Third, look at his security company at http://www.mitnicksecurity.com/ .

Then read the following article from security site DarkReading:

https://www.darkreading.com/partner-perspectives/evidentio/security-experts-and-hackers-were-not-so-different/a/d-id/1329253

Answer the following two questions. Your two answers, in total, should be no more than 400 words long.

1 Do you believe that security experts/practitioners are very different from hackers, or similar to hackers? Why or why not?

2 Would you hire Kevin Mitnick or any other former hacker to work in your company? Why or why not?

Answers are to be written on the next page.
