Contour Maps Lab 2
Lab 1a
Lab 1a
a. Map A is a contour map with the elevation at a point shown.
The contour interval is 100 feet. In the open space shown along the contours, label the elevation of the contour.
Be sure to look carefully over the map to find all of the open spaces.
Note that there is “bulls-eye” pattern on the map where contours have tick marks. Realize that this represents a basin.

Lab 1a
Use Contour lines on Map A to make topographic profiles
Lab 1a
b. Draw the topographic profile for the line A – A’ shown on the map.
The profile graph paper is provided on the page after the map. Draw the profile first using the 3 upper graph and then the lower. The upper graph shows the profile without vertical exaggeration and the lower graph shows the profile with 2x vertical exaggeration
This will take some time to add in all the steps…one at a time and will need to be done before hand to show the steps. If you come up with an easier way let me know.

Lab 1a
Can mark ticks and elevation on paper and transfer dots up above tick mark on corresponding elevation
Lab 1a
Do same for 2x vertical exaggeration
