Prompt

Look at all of the responses from your group and collate this into a single document that reflects the group as a whole, although you will be doing this as an individual (i.e., each group member is responsible for creating their own document to submit.) The idea is to draw on all the six perspectives and produce a coherent understanding of the fall of Jerusalem. This document, then, reflects the response of the group as a whole to the following questions.

1. What went wrong? How to explain the disaster? Who is to blame? God? The kings of Judah? The Judahite elite? The people? Prophets? The Temple establishment? Israel’s neighbors? The Babylonians?

2. How do things stand now? What are the most pressing problems facing Judah? What assets, if any, does Judah have?

3. What is the way forward? Is there any basis for hope? If so, how should the community go forward? What should its priorities be? For what can Judah realistically hope? In what ways should a post-fall Judah be different from Judah before the fall of Jerusalem?

Assignment

Submit a 1,000 – 1,250-word document to the dropbox that consists of three sections corresponding to the three questions above.
