1. Introduction: The organization I chose to prepare a knowledge management strategy is MinterEllison Law

Firm. MinterEllison Law Firm is an international law firm, it was founded in 1827 in Sydney, and

the first MinterEllison international office built in1974 in London. Now the firm has fifteen offices and operates in five countries and becomes the largest law firm in Australia(Kriegler 2015).

The reasons for me to select MinterEllison Law Firm have several factors. Firstly, one of MinterEllison Law Firm’s office is allocating in Melbourne CBD, it grants me the opportunity to visit the firm's office and to obtain more specific information on how the law firm works, and the current status that MinterEllison Law Firm is facing. Secondly, a lawyer is earning commission through their law knowledge, the ability and reputation of a lawyer is based on his/her understanding on laws and experience on lawsuits, a well-planned knowledge management strategy is essential for a law firm.

2. Areas to be studied: The area that I want to study through knowledge management strategy is based on

MinterEllison Law Firm’s current development and business strategy, to identify activities to achieve the objectives, and determine the professional knowledge needed to perform these activities. In this case, it would be determine MinterEllison Firm’s future plan on increasing influences on specific legal areas, like company law or real-estate law. In the purpose of doing that, the firm needs to take more lawsuits in these areas, and need better understanding on these laws.

3. Approach and methods: The approaches for me to collect the information to present in my knowledge management

strategy, I have two prepared data sources. For the primary data sources, I found the address and contact number of MinterEllison Law

Firm’s melbourne office: Level 20, Collins Arch, 447 Collins Street, Melbourne 3000, Australia Phone: 61 3 8608 2000 As for the secondary data sources, there are two major lawyer websites posting news and

business information on large firms: https://www.thelawyermag.com https://www.thelawyer.com

4. Risk Management: During the developing of knowledge management strategy, two major risks are

considered: First, due to the differences between old and new employees’ educational

background and values and principles, how to make sure that experienced lawyers would share their experience and knowledge to the firm and the new lawyer’s acceptance of those knowledge.

Are you saying here you have been given permission to do this or that you are just saying it is possible as they have an office presence here? These are two quite different scenarios.

This is not enough - anyone can look this up on the Internet. The key things is do you have confirmed participation in stakeholder interviews for A3? If not, then this organisation would not be an ideal choice for A3.

This is supposed to be a reflection of the risks you face in developing the KM strategy for A3 (and how you plan to mitigate these) and not risks for the organisation.

This is very general....

Ensure that in A3 that the areas you plan to study enable you to demonstrate the breadth and depth of your understanding of the three infrastructures for KM (technological, operational and cultural) as this is where most of the marks are earned. From your text here it is hard to gauge if this will be the case.

Second, since government develops new laws every year, the firm needs to keep the professional knowledge up to date, the ability to assess the usefulness of those new knowledge is another challenge.
