Purpose of the Assignment:
The assignment is designed to provide students the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge gained from the course to discuss the range of decisions to be taken, examine the information and knowledge needed to ensure effective decision making, assess internal and external sources of information and understanding and suggest recommendations for improvement.
Focusing on a company that you are familiar with, using examples from your own work experience where possible and applying your knowledge on the subject, please attempt answering the following 3 questions:
1. What is the essential information and knowledge required to ensure effective decision making? You need to remember that the challenge for a business is to capture and use information that is relevant and reliable.
2. What are the internal and external sources of information and understanding available for your case company?
3. Suggest ways to improve access to information and knowledge required for effective decision making.

Guidelines:
In your answer to question 1, you need to think about, and give examples of, the different types of information and knowledge needed by your case company in order to ensure effective decision making. The examples of types of information and knowledge you can give may be of different forms that include qualitative (descriptive information), quantitative (statistical data), official and unofficial information, tacit and explicit knowledge etc.
Your answer to question 2 should clearly identify the key sources of information that can help case company. These sources might include internal and external stakeholders of the company, primary and secondary sources of information, team workers and customers. It will be useful to give examples in your answer.
Your answer to question 3 should identify how the quality and quantity of information could be improved. The speed with which information is gathered could be also improved.

This assignment should answered entirely on one single Word.docx document of 3 to 4 pages (not including the cover or title page, table of contents, bibliography or appendix).
Structure of the Assignment
1. Cover page: The first page must contain the full name of the student, the logo of the school as well as the name of the course and the name of the professor.
2. Main answers clearly numbered and,
· Use sub-headings as you see fit.
· Use figures, tables, etc. as you see fit.
3. Bibliography: You should use the Harvard Referencing System .
4. Appendix (if needed)
Assessment Criteria.
Credit will be given for evidence of:
· Library/Internet based research. Try to use a mixture of resources - books, articles as well as the internet.
· Understanding of the issues raised by the question.
· Concise and clear presentation. Acknowledge any quotes, ideas or arguments that are not your own using the Harvard system. Include a list of references.
· Originality and a critical and questioning approach. It is important to be objective and to support statements with evidence.
· A logical structure and well-argued conclusion

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
The work must be uploaded on the appropriate Turnitin folder created by the course Faculty Member on Moodle.
The title of the student's submitted file should contain the following information:
· Name of this course
· Name of the Faculty Member / Teacher
· Student's full Name
· Student ID number
· Title of this assignment (Mid-Term / Final)
