Research Proposal (Economic and Agricultural Relations: Kenya)
After carefully examining the syllabus and the textbook, the country of my choice in
which I would enjoy conducting research on is Kenya. When if first started learning about Africa
in elementary and middle school, Kenya was on the first countries we learned about due to its
beautiful landscapes and wildlife conservation. Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya, a rambling
city that, in the same way as other African cities, is an examination in complexities, with present-
day high rises watching out over immense poor communities, many harboring exiles escaping
common wars in neighboring nations. Upon initial research, I became fascinated with Kenya’s
economy and agriculture. The nation's differing wildlife and all-encompassing geology draw
huge quantities of European and North American guests, and the tourism industry is a significant
supporter of Kenya's economy.
In recent events, Kenya’s real gross domestic product is predicted to grow by 5.7% as of
2019. This has sparked my interest in learning more about the political, economic, agricultural,
and social relations in Kenya. In 1983, the Kenya government expressed that to more readily
acknowledge ongoing advancements in the nation. The issues recognized are profound
established ethnicity, differential improvement, a secessionist development in North Eastern
Province, an unbending, semi-government constitution, and a large group of social and financial
issues, for example, joblessness, absence of gifted labor, trip of capital and outside ruled

economy. Kenya commonly has a significant exchange deficiency. The exchange parity varies
generally on the grounds that Kenya's fundamental fares are essential items dependent upon the
impacts of both world costs and climate. The profound established ethnicity is because of the
absence of contact between the different networks that the pioneer government, which was
likewise in charge of differential improvement, kept up. Kenya is one of the quickest developing
economies in Africa. However, almost twenty-five million inhabitants live beneath the poverty
line. Sixty-six percent of Kenyans don't approach fundamental money related administrations,
for example, financial balances.
Kenya has a market-based economy with a changed outside exchange framework and a
couple of state undertakings. Real ventures include agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, tourism,
fishing, and energy. Since Kenya economy relies heavily on agriculture, I want to implant this
into my paper because of how much the amount of environmental problems are our world has.
Some of the environmental issues faced in Kenya include soil erosion, water shortages,
deforestation, decertification, poaching, flooding, pollution and most importantly lower quality
of fresh water. Personally, I believe water is human right and the fact that so many people are left
without it astonishes me because we take it for granted living in the United States. For this
reason, I will be diving heavily into researching the quality of life for many poor communities in
Kenya that deal with these issues on a daily basis. Water assets in Kenya are feeling the squeeze
from agrarian synthetic compounds, and urban and mechanical squanders, just as from use for
hydroelectric power. The foreseen water deficiency is a potential issue for what's to come.
There are a wide assortment of natural life species in Kenya, whose territories are
compromised by infringement of man and local poachers that live in remote provinces. As an

animal and wildlife lover, this stood out as one of the biggest problems in Kenya. While much of
Kenya’s wildlife is decent, many animals are protected and endangered to become extinct.
Kenya's inexhaustible natural life populace lives for the most part outside the nation's various
national parks and wildlife reserves. One of the best examples in which we see this are elephants,
rhinoceros, zebras, and lions. These animals are being hunted and exploited by humankind for
their own personal gain.
In addition, using library databases from Florida International University will allow me to
find books, magazines, and academic articles regarding the political, economic, and agricultural
sanctions enforced in Kenya. As a political science major, one of the things I would hope to learn
during research assignment is not only how the economy is ran in Kenya but its relationships in
regards to other global issues. Finally, achieving approval for this paper will allow me to learn
more about Kenya and hopefully become an “expert” on this country.
