Element |
Description |
|
Mission |
I choose to pick Walmart. The mission and vision statement of an organization tells the customers who the organization is and what they will offer clients. The mission and vision explain the purpose of the organization and will hopefully inspire employees to do their best within the organization and in their role associated. Walmart Inc.'s corporate mission is “to save people money so they can live better.” This statement reflects the ideals of the company's founder, Sam Walton. |
|
Vision |
Walmart Inc.'s corporate vision is to “Be the destination for customers to save money, no matter how they want to shop.” This vision was officially articulated in the company's 2017 investment community meeting. The vision statement echoes the central reasons behind the desire of the company to position itself as the retail leader. |
|
Values |
Walmart values Service to the Customer, Respect for the Individual, Strive for Excellence and Act with Integrity. It's how they deliver superior customer service, create a great front-line work environment and improve performance in order to achieve their common purpose of saving people money so they can live better. |
|
Structure |
Walmart’s organizational structure determines the company’s business activities. Walmart has a hierarchical functional organizational structure. This structure has two features: hierarchy and function-based definition. The hierarchy feature pertains to the vertical lines of command and authority throughout the organizational structure. Structural characteristics help facilitate the company’s strategic implementations in capturing a bigger share of the retail market. |
|
Culture |
Culture is the foundation of everything they do at Walmart. Walmart defines culture as their values in action. They employ millions of associates in thousands of roles, from cart pushers to meteorologists, truck drivers, food scientists, and everything in-between. Cultural features help the retail business adapt to changes and emerging challenges in the international market. The long history of Walmart Inc. in succeeding and continually growing internationally shows that the firm’s organizational structure and organizational culture are helpful in bringing competitive advantages and success. |
Analysis
Based on your advanced organizer and further research, analyze the degree of alignment between what the organization is currently doing (actions) and their mission, vision, values, structure, and culture.
It seems that Walmart has been living up to their vision and mission statements. They offer affordable products that cater to many different markets. There is a wide variety of price range and departments that offered in all product lines. Their advertisements showcase that everyone in our economy is happy and should be comfortable with whatever they choose to purchase. They lead the market by understanding what their consumers want.
