Impact of HIV and STIs on population?
Sample population to be analyzed is the young adults. The population that falls in this category is more prone to the diseases as they are more exposed to sexual intercourse and drug and substance abuse which are some of the factors that lead to increased transmission of the disease. The main objective of the study is to determine how HIV and STIs affect the growth of a population.
Eligible young adults seeking an STI/HIV testing will be offered home sampling kits in a small clinic in Atlanta. Participants from the group will be required to collect and return specimens by themselves and return them to the clinic for testing. Method of collection to be used will be according to the specifications outlined by the participants on their preferred method of contact as they specified in the request form.
It is advantageous as it is not time consuming, it only requires selection of sample size and identifying a starting point for the sample that needs to be continued at regular intervals to form a sample.
Methods of data collection to be used is interview since it is well structured and the main aim of the research is to get as much information as possible. Face to face interview maybe applicable where necessary however it is time consuming and expensive. Although it is more effective due to its high rate of response and the participants may have an opportunity to clarify their responses.
Telephone interviews are highly cost effective and takes less time although it is too expensive and may interfere with the data collection as the survey may be bias as not all participants may have access to a phone. The most effective of all the methods of interviewing is the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) where the participants use devices to respond to questionnaires.
Using a variable in univariate analysis shows the category where data falls, variables can be bivariate that is two or multivariate that is three or more variables. The frequency distribution table is the most suitable in this case to show the variables and especially in this analysis.
