I have been blessed to have many awesome influences in my life. I was born and raised a Christian and accepted the Lord at age 5 years old. My parents were the ones to have the most impact and still do in my life. My mom is my best friend, who I go to for advice. She is super honest and will encourage me with Scripture. When, I was in middle school my mom read me a book about puberty and abstinence. It taught me about how to save myself for my husband and not to date just anyone. It taught me about how the Scripture says about we are temple of God and how the Lord loves us no matter what we do. It taught about how I am a princess that deserves respect. The book impacted me a lot where I stayed a virgin until age 22 years old, which is unheard of now a day. My mom still reminds me who I am in Christ still today as she sends me Scripture and calls me out when I need to do it. I feel like I have a good sense of my self-worth and identity, however like all humans I have times where I look at myself in the mirror and my past and look down at myself. I remind myself in times of looking down at myself of what the Bible says about how the Lord forgives us and to sin no more. For example, Hebrews 8:12 (NIV) says, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” I am always working on myself and developing myself. I have learned that the Lord works in me when I spend time with Him and in His Word. I also pray for forgiveness and ask the Lord to help develop me into the person He wants me to be. I fall short, but the Lord keeps working on me. I also have a fun way to remind myself of my worth and value in the Lord through art. I have an art journal where I create images that are inspiring or just hienst. For example, one day I was hard on myself and write all my negatives in my mind about myself then wrote over it that I am the Lord’s princess with a crown. It was a great reminder to me. James Dobson discussed in is video about how children need to be taught at a young age about the Lord. I was fortunate enough to have parents that did just that. They prayed with me and taught me Scripture throughout all my life. James Dobson (2014) discussed how the baton needs to be passed down to children about the Lord. Instill the Bible and the teaching in the lives of children. Also, Dobson (2014) discussed to pray for your children. The power of prayer helped Dobson’s family throughout years, and it can also work in everyone’s lives family as well.
