In this essay, you should do the following:

· Establish the main idea clearly

· Develop the main idea with adequate and relevant supporting details.

· Organize your ideas logically and coherently.

· Make effective choices in vocabulary and sentence structure.

· Observe conventions of standard American English grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

Take some time to plan what you want to say before you start writing.  Making an outline or creating a planning sheet is strongly recommended. Then, write a draft of the paper, consisting of an introductory paragraph with an attention getter and a clearly worded thesis, multiple paragraphs of support, and a concluding paragraph that ties the relevant major detail back to the thesis.  

Revise the essay several times, adding additional support and making needed changes to improve and strengthen it. Edit for grammatical error and strive for the excellence required of a college writer. Use the checklist below to help you.
