Assignment 2 Competitive Capabilities
Competitive Capabilities:
· Competitive capabilities are the cost, quality, time, and flexibility dimensions that a process or supply chain actually possesses and is able to deliver.
· When the capability falls short of the priority attached to it, management must find ways to close the gap or else review the priority.
Based on the 9 competitive priority dimensions (see the table below on page 2), please complete Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 below:
Part 1. Company selection:
Choose a company – I recommend choosing one that is well known so that you can easily gather necessary information. Provide general information about the company (no more than 150 words, you can copy/paste from the company website if necessary).
Part 2. Competitive Capabilities Evaluation:
Evaluate the company’s competitive capabilities based on the 9 competitive priority dimensions (Chapter K1, page 12, Table 1.3). For each dimension, identify the gap between customer expectations and company’s actual performance. If there are some dimensions that are NOT applicable to the company you selected, then just write Not Applicable or NA. If the company has several lines of products/services, you can choose one (For example, if you choose Apple, you can choose to evaluate one of the following - Macbooks, iPads, Apple watch, iPhones, etc.). You can make a table or use bullet points for this part.
Part 3. Suggestion:
Choose one dimension from Part 2 and discuss how the company can improve its performance by suggesting a potential strategy. You can suggest one key strategy or multiple strategies. Make sure to provide a tangible strategy.
