Introduction

 Juvenile court  can be described as a court  mandated with the responsibilities of dealing with crimes committed by young people who have not yet qualified to assumed adults. Among the Cases handled in juvenile courts include;

Juvenile delinquency cases.

Cases involving status offenses. 

Juvenile dependency cases- neglect and abuse cases.

This discussion will only consider child neglect and abuse incidences.

“Juvenile” or child neglect is considered the most rampart and common type of maltreatment in United States. Form recent statistics from juvenile courts, over 794,000 cases the victims were substantiated to be of child maltreatment and neglect.

The purpose of this discussion provide in-depth description of the nature of neglect in child welfare, elaborate the experiences they undergo, and perhaps explain deferent types of child neglect

child neglect, abuse and other facets of maltreatment has become on of the social challenge in todays communities. This project will be weighted towards the research on minor sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect as the main maltreatment challenges faced by millions of young children in the united states.

Causes of child neglect and maltreatment can be atribited to many factors.

Manifestations of child abuse and neglect.

Injuries inflicted to a child by either parents of guardians take deferent forms. Child neglect and abuse has been found to be among the factors that lead to premature death. Child abuse and neglect can be in form of ;

Sexual abuse that cause genital injuries, infections and behavioral challenges.

It child maltreatment and neglect can manifest itself via :

Non-compliance with healthcare recommendations and provisions, failure of parent too seek appropriate healthcare for the minor, food deprivation leading to hunger, exposer of child to drugs, poor hygiene, lack of protection for environmental dangers, abandonment, lack of child supervision, depriving the child right to get education among many other forms of neglect manifestation.

After several sample cases obtained from the surveys on child maltreatment and neglect were reviewed it was evident that 71.0% of the result indicated neglect of child welfare. Many of the children experience wide range of neglect while a few of them often get exposed to one of two manifestation of child welfare neglect.

Among the most prevalence neglect identified among many victims was emotional abuse.

Emotional abuse in young children is manifested inform of spurning, isolating, segregation, terrorizing or corrupting.

The heating debate in juvenile courts is that many cases presented to them are directly related to parents maltreat their children by having less focus and concern about their well-being.

Perhaps caretakers also have been found to offer inadequate care for children due their inability or frequent absence to take care of children.

Neglect of children not only tend to occur with other different types of maltreatment, but also often occur together but with specific relationships and the most common type is neglect of supervisory where almost 70% of juvenile cases have been proven to be related with supervisory neglect.

Another frequent type of neglect phenomenon occurring in two thirds of neglect cases is environmental neglect which core-relate to education, and care neglect.

Many children face a lot of challenges as they grow. Some culture values and practices affect the manner in which parents take care their children welfare. Recent research has shown that many children are medically neglected .

Medical neglect is directly correlated with other types of neglect. The survey conducted on child neglect indicated that only 22.8% of children were victims of medical neglect

From the research it can be concluded that child neglect cases revolve around five major deferent types of neglect. These are;

Care neglect.

Environmental neglect.

Educational neglect.

Supervisory neglect.

Medical neglect.

Conclusion.

Neglect has become pervasive with respect to child welfare system whereby relevant authorities have underestimated the occurrence.

For abused and neglected children, juvenile courts acts as a substitute parent that nurture and add value to such children thus reducing the burden of social problems in the society.

Implications: child neglect interventions should be individualize to address the complexity of neglect experiences.
