Hardboiled detectives writing assignment
In Chapter 4 of “Hip: The History,” John Leland notes that the traditional hardboiled detective has the following traits …
· He is a figure of masculinity unbound
· He is an independent operator
· He is typically unmarried, childless and motherless
· He doesn’t bow to women or work
· He will walk away from money
· He treads the line between right and wrong
Your assignment is to find a modern incarnation of the hardboiled detective in the popular media that you consume. Any medium is fine. You can look to comic books, movies, novels, TV shows, video games or other content. To complete the assignment satisfactorily, you need to pick a character that you believe is the modern equivalent of a classic hardboiled detective, then explain why you believe this to be true. Give me detailed examples showing how the character displays most of the key traits associated with this character type. Note: Do not choose Batman as this character is used as an example in lecture. Also, although hardboiled detectives were traditionally male, it is fine to pick a female character who possesses most of the character types noted above.
Your response should be at least 400 words
