Journaling Format Requirements

You may choose to handwrite or type your journals.

For a handwritten journal, a full page is defined as a college-ruled, 8 1/2” by 11” spiral notebook page with no skipped lines and a margin only on the left-hand side. If you have a smaller notebook, wider lines, or want to use two margins, you may do so. However, you then would have to write more than a page to meet the minimum length. You would also have to write more than a page to meet the minimum length if you have large handwriting or large spacing between words. If your journal entry is longer than a page, do not write on the back of the page.

For a typed journal, a full page is defined as one page of typed response, using 1” margins all around, double-spacing, and 12-point Times New Roman font. There are no extra spaces between paragraphs and any heading/header does not count as part of your typed page. Typed journals will need to be printed out to hand in during class. If typed journals are required to be submitted to turnitin.com, all deadlines must also be met on time online for journals to be considered completely submitted on time in class. If your journal entry be longer than a page, do not print the pages back to back.
