Diabetes
I wrote my paper about diabetes. This is a brief definition of diabetes" Diabetes mellitus is a disease in which the body is no longer able to carefully control blood glucose, leading to abnormally high levels of blood glucose (hyperglycemia). Persistently elevated blood glucose can cause damage to the body's tissues, including the nerves, blood vessels, and tissues in the eyes."
Frist of all, I am interested in this topic for many reasons for example: according to medical news today" it was the seventh leading causes of death in the U.S". but the most important reason is because am coming from family had a long history of diabetes. My father got Diabetes since he was 20 years old. And my grandmother has diabetes. Moreover, my mother and my father are cousins and their grandfather has diabetes so, I am exhibition of this disease due to genetics. I grow with father who is take several medicines before every meal and have trouble with reading small text, can't drive at night, need long time to healing wound. all this reason mead me interested to learn about diabetes and how I can protect myself from diabetes and educate my sibling about it. Also, to have a good knowledge how to treat our dad.
I read journal article about diagnosis and classification of diabetes mellites. I learned about the symptomatic of diabetes which is polyuria, polydipsia, weight loss, sometimes with polyphagia, and blurred vision there are not only symptomatic but it is the most common.
the Long-term complications of diabetes include potential loss of vision, peripheral neuropathy with risk of foot ulcers, and sexual dysfunction. Also, I learned the different between each type of diabetes according to American diabetes association, the clear majority of cases of diabetes fall into two broad categories in one category, type 1 diabetes, the cause is an absolute deficiency of insulin secretion.
type 2 diabetes, the cause is a combination of resistance to insulin action and an inadequate compensatory insulin secretory response. In the latter category, a degree of hyperglycemia sufficient to cause pathologic and functional changes in various target tissues, but without clinical symptoms, may be present for a long period before diabetes is detected.
Second things that I learned was the other reason my causes diabetes for example:
Any process that diffusely injures the pancreas can cause diabetes. Acquired processes include pancreatitis, trauma, infection, pancreatectomy, and pancreatic carcinoma. Except for that caused by cancer, damage to the pancreas must be extensive for diabetes to occur.
On the other hand, there are also many drugs can impair insulin secretion. These drugs may not cause diabetes by themselves, but they may precipitate diabetes in individuals with insulin resistance.
Also, many Genetic Syndromes Sometimes Associated with Diabetes such as: the chromosomal abnormalities of Down syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and Turner syndrome. Wolfram syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by insulin-deficient diabetes and the absence of β-cells at autopsy. (American diabetes association)
In conclusion, the significance of study this problem is because that the diabetes is chronic disease and may cause a serious health problem. moreover, it considers as one of Psychosomatic diseases, called psychosomatic diseases, where emotions and stress play a prominent role. Diabetes is very widespread, especially in recent years. Due of increasing the various problems of life. Therefore, we need to keep in mind how try to protect our health form personal life problem to stay healthy.
