Journal #7: Annotated Bibliography

Short Form Composition

For this assignment, you will create an APA-style annotated bibliography. The

bibliography must have 3 entries. Each entry will consist of 3 parts:

1. An APA References-style citation for your source

2. A summary of the source’s main points (3-5 sentences)

3. A statement of how this source relates to your report (2-4

sentences)

After creating the citation for your source, you’ll write a brief paragraph in which you (1)

summarize the main points of the source and (2) analyze the source in relation to your

report. Does the source describe your problem? Does it have information related to your

solution? How will you incorporate it into your paper? A sample entry for an APA

citation for a journal article follows*:

Ehrenreich, B. (2001). Nickel and dimed: On (not) getting by in America. New York: Henry

Holt and Company.

In this book of nonfiction based on the journalist's experiential research, Ehrenreich

attempts to ascertain whether it is currently possible for an individual to live on a

minimum-wage in America. Taking jobs as a waitress, a maid in a cleaning service, and a

Walmart sales employee, the author summarizes and reflects on her work, her

relationships with fellow workers, and her financial struggles in each situation. This

relates to my report because the author provides specific points of evidence on how the

minimum wage is not a living wage. I will include this information to help describe my

problem.

Remember: the above example shows an entry for ONE source, but you must write

THREE (on the same document).

You will be graded on your ability to accurately summarize the main points of the article

and analyze its relevance to your own problem/solution report. You will also be graded

on the accuracy of the APA-style References citation. Finally, sentences must be clear

without grammar or punctuation mistakes.
