Urgent work
A journey starts with a step. It has been long but finally, I have come to the climax; ending my
internship. It has taken me 3 months of learning. When starting off, the challenges almost made
me give up. At one time, I felt like I had majored in the wrong field. My reasons were justified.
How was I supposed to take names of people whom I could barely understand since they were in
masks? How was I supposed to multitask when I was still very new in the health center? Lastly, I
was not very good with addressing new people, how could they have put me at the registry.
However, I took the challenge. From an observer, to the registry and finally now I can carry out
tests.
In every learning, there are expected outcomes. I can confidently say that I have gained a lot
from the internship. To start with, I can now comfortably work with patients. Getting
information from them is no longer a challenge. I know how to open a conversation with them
when they come. I can also approach them for the information.
During the pandemic, we have seen medical officers end up being infected. Luckily, I have been
able to conduct tests safely. I have dealt with positive victims, and in the whole scenario, I have
come out negative. I have also been able to control viruses. This is by ensuring that the test tubes
of my patients are well handled to avoid transmission.
It did not come to an end without challenges. There were times I have had to miss my other
classes. Since, the internship required my participation, timing was a big challenge. I have had to
miss classes and had to seek retakes. Being employed at the same time has really left me dried
and at times, I felt like I was neglecting my body.
It wasn’t in vain as I got a very encouraging recommendation from my supervisor. In the
recommendation, I have been acknowledged as a person who can successfully handle tests. I can
also control viruses. Additionally, I have a good rapport with patients. Am very proud with how
my communication skills have greatly improved. This has boosted my confidence too. I am glad
that now I no longer feel challenged to address people. With this character, I do not have to go
into practice as I can further my education and become a tutor. The internship has also made me
feel that health sector was what I was born to do.
In conclusion, it was such a great learning experience. I thank the school for the opportunity. Am
grateful to all those who helped me succeed in my internship. When I joined the health center, I
knew nothing. As I have elaborated above, I have tremendously improved as a person and in my
career. I thank all those who tolerated my mistakes and corrected me with love. Were it not for
your input, this would not have been accomplished. In my life, wherever I will be talking of my
career, you will be mentioned. I promise to use the experience I gained from your institution to
better my life and that of others. In future, I would like also to help someone learn as you helped
me. Given a chance, I would have wished to continue. However, I am a finalist and have to focus
on the other units so that I can graduate.
