Action Taken: I created a new feature for the Online retail store that I interned at.
I noticed that customers could benefit from a new feature - to allow customers to save favorite products that they think they could purchase at a future date.
I proposed the name ‘Wish List’ to the supervisor
With his approval I started designing it and eventually wrote the code for it
Supervisor’s Response: Support
The supervisor was impressed by the new feature and potential it could have on sales volumes.
He mentioned my contribution in the team meeting. I felt motivated
The supervisor supported me by allocating more resources in support of the implementation of the new feature.
The supervisor encouraged me to seek his guidance and that of senior developers in case of any challenges.
Challenges Faced in My Initiative
Time constraints. Implementing the feature proved to be more difficult that I thought. It therefore took me a lot of time that I had thought it would
I encountered more challenges like ensuring smooth working of the app across different browser applications and devices.
Promoting the new feature’s usage was also challenging.
I moved around this by adding functionality that popped up notification on active users’ devices to introduce the new feature.
