Marguerite
Marguerite is currently a first-year undergraduate at an
online university studying accounting. She has a part-time
job at a retail store with two small children and a husband
who works nights. Marguerite spends most evenings sitting
at the kitchen table studying while cooking dinner and then
getting her kids ready for bed. It’s very distracting having a
two-year-old and a six-year-old under foot all the time. She
doesn’t have anyone to help her with child care. She has a big assignment due in a few days and right now
her stress level is very high, and it’s interfering with her ability to concentrate. What can she do?
Alex
Alex has the flu and it has been dragging on for weeks. He is
struggling to have enough energy to get through his daily
tasks and stay on top of his studies. He has procrastinated in
contacting his instructor to talk about options because he
knows he is behind. He is hoping to feel better soon and get
back on track. How might Alex work through this challenge
toward a positive outcome?
Sophia
Sophia’s discussion assignment is due in a few hours.
However, she’s been having computer problems all day.
She’s trying to troubleshoot the issues but she’s not having
much luck. Her computer has crashed twice already and her
efforts to get it working again have failed. She is frustrated
and if her computer doesn’t start working soon, she’s going
to miss her assignment deadline. What should she do?
Alisha
Alisha just got promoted and her new position requires a
lot of time for onboarding and training. She has been
working long hours and she’s under a lot of pressure to get
up to speed fast. Because she has been working overtime,
she is not sure she can make her assignment deadline on
Monday. She feels she can catch up with her school work if
she had a little more time. What could she do?
Joseph
Joseph is very committed to attending school while serving
in the military. He just got a call from his commanding
officer that he will be deployed next week. He is half way
through his online program of studies and is concerned
about being able to finish his final assignment for his
current course. He will have to do schoolwork in the field
and depend on local internet access, which can be
unpredictable. What should he do?
