Directions: All journal entries must be typed. Answer each question in complete sentences unless it asks you to “list.”

1. Answer the following.

· Provide ONE Website/Youtube Channel/Social Media Account that can provide new parents with various supports.

· What are the advantages and disadvantages of breastfeeding?

· Create a list of 5 things that are important to know when you bring the baby home. (ex. Info about feeding, sleeping, etc.)

2. Look up the nutritional needs of an 8–10-month-old and a 2–3-year-old. Create a chart that illustrates a meal plan for one day for each age group (8-10 months and 2-3 years old). Additionally, add a section to your chart that includes “dangerous foods” for each age group as well. (www.choosemyplate.com)

3. What is postpartum depression in pregnancy? What are some characteristics and support for mothers to deal with postpartum depression?

4. Jean Piaget studied how children learn from birth to age 12. He broke his theory down to 3 stages; Sensorimotor (Birth to 2 years old), Preoperational (2-7 years old), and Concrete Operations (7-12 years old). Your baby is in the sensorimotor stage because he/she was just born. According to Piaget’s theory, describe how babies learn during the sensorimotor stage. Also put 3 images of toys that would be good for a child during the sensorimotor stage.
