IT System Integrity – Cloud Computing

Journal 1 - Project Work

My project work was based on IT Systems Integrity which reveals how the systems Integrity and security is very important. The project work focuses on the role of IT experts is to ensure that the IT Systems are well protected and cannot be hacked by anyone neither be corrupted by malicious software. The project work on IT systems Integrity – Cloud Computing is going on exclusively well. The project has realized some of the loopholes in the Cloud Computing Integrity and is coming up with various ways of sealing up the loopholes. The project work has helped in improving various ways of making the IT systems intact and boosting the confidence of various users about the security of their data. Though the security department of IT systems realized that one of the difficult tasks is sealing the gaps in security, there is need to ensure that all the gaps are closed. The project is revealing how some of the cybercrimes take place and how the perpetrators get away with such crimes. Though in the project it is unveiling the difficult task security experts have in protecting crucial data. The force and enthusiasm driving the project is the desire to restore trust in the IT Systems and improve the number of users (Kleidermacher, 2012).

The project is also handling ways of helping users who are not experts in issues related to IT. This is very important in making them cautious to avoid malicious attack on their systems. This is because it has been realized that most users losses their key documents through malicious attack of their IT Systems. This project work is therefore going to transform the security management of the IT Systems and limit its proneness to attack. The project is also encouraging security department to establish unique software that will be used in the protection and securing the system.

The data collected during the research

The data collected in this research include the reasons why most people get their IT systems hacked. In this, It was discovered that those their systems get hacked is because of the lack of knowledge in operating IT equipment. It was established that there people who are computer illiterate and as such they would make some changes in installed programs that in turn affect the systems or operation of the computer. The other information collected was ignorance by most of the users of IT systems. Most of the people who uses IT equipment are very ignorant. They operate the machines for example if it is computer; they use it without taking it for maintenance. The other one is buying of the hardware of different IT equipment without consulting the experts. This has affected the outlook of most IT machines

The task performed during the research

The task which was performed during the research is ensuring that the research problem is solved. The problems people were having with their various cloud computing were solved by the IT experts. The experts were also encouraging people to use safe ways in logging and logging out of their systems. The other information collected was ignorance by most of the users of IT systems. Most of the people who uses IT equipment are very ignorant. They operate the machines for example if it is computer; they use it without taking it for maintenance. The other one is buying of the hardware of different IT equipment without consulting the experts. This has affected the outlook of most IT machines (International Conference on Information Systems Security, 2006).

Journal – 2

The research project focuses on IT systems integrity which shows the relevance of system integrity and security in cloud computing. According to the article by Zhou, Zhang, Xie, Qian, & Zhou, (2010, November) it is a very important venture which focuses on the various roles it experts play in ensuring the systems ate invulnerable to any attack by hackers or corruption by malware. The project on IT systems integrity in Cloud computing progress is very promising with some ground breaking discoveries being made. This week the project’s focus was on data collection and analysis which have revealed major loopholes in cloud computing integrity. We are currently coming up with efficient ways of sealing these loopholes making the system intact therefore boosting the confidence of various users on cloud computing and the safety of their data. From the analysis of the security department of IT, one of the major challenges is sealing loopholes and gaps in the system’s security. The project is constantly unveiling various cybercrimes taking place in cloud computing and how the perpetrators avoid detection when messing around with client’s data. The project has also revealed extensively the level of difficulty in preventing such crimes to ensure the integrity of cloud computing services.

The project is also coming up with ways to aid users who are not experts in IT relate to the system to avoid malicious attacks on their crucial documents and other data types stored. This project therefore seeks to transform the security management of IT systems and minimize the chances of attack from unsavory characters. The project is also encouraging the security department to acquire unique software that will ensure the security of the system since the driving force of the project is to restore trust in IT systems in cloud computing thus increasing the number of users as cited by Zissis & Lekkas, (2012).

Data collection done for the research

In this research, data collected was collected from previous participants of the cloud computing vendors/clients to know why many of the systems belonging to the clients are being hacked. It was discovered that most clients use weak passwords to their accounts that can easily be by passed by brute force hacking. Other clients are computer illiterate and sometimes make changes in the installed systems they do not comprehend that may result to catastrophic damage to either the system or operation of the computer. Other information gathered showed that most users are ignorant of their systems. They do not conduct proper maintenance of the various IT components they use such as computers.

Tasks Performed for the research

The research study will also use statistical method of sampling. A sample size of cloud computing vendors and consumers will be drawn from the market. Historical information on participants past experiences with cloud computing and the tools they have been using in verifying data in their cloud will be captured via an online questionnaire. Each participant will be allowed to fill only one questionnaire. This information will be statistically analyzed for recommendations and decision making.

The research study was also involved to know the cloud computing vendors/service providers and consumers of the technology who had participate in the sample.

Journal – 3

This journal focuses on data collection and analysis phase of the research as what type of data is being collected for the research project and how it supports the research. The focus of the research is on the IT system integrity - Cloud Computing. At this stage, the main focus of the project was on data collection and analysis which can be used to identify the various loopholes in cloud computing and the level of data safety. Identifying and sealing these loopholes have often been a challenge for the security department of IT (Zissis & Lekkas, 2012). Therefore, these part of the project is aimed at identifying various cybercrimes that take place in cloud computing and how perpetrators interfere with clients’ data without being detected. It will also help non-expert users of IT in relating with the systems without the risk of malicious attacks on their important documents and other important data stored in the system.

Tasks performed this week for research project

During the week, a number of tasks were performed to advance the research. Firstly, a research study was conducted to identify vendors and customers of cloud computing. Secondly, statistical sampling was conducted whereby a sample size of the population of cloud computing clients and customers were taken from the market. Thirdly, an online questionnaire was administered to the sample population so as to capture the historical information on their past experiences with cloud computing and the tools they often use in data verification in their clouds. In this case, every participant was

required to fill and submit just one questionnaire. The collected data were then analyzed

during the week.

Types of data that was been collected for the research project

Various types of information were gathered for the research. They include both qualitative and quantitative data (Freedman, 2005). Qualitative data was collected by expressing the data by means of description by natural language and not in terms of numbers for example, reasons why the systems are being hacked. Quantitative data was collected through numerical measurement expression of numbers and not through description by natural language. For example, the number of users with weak passwords and number of illiterate users.

How the collected data was been analyzed?

The collected data was statistically analyzed so as to aid in the recommendation and decision making. The analysis involved calculating mean so as to determine the overall trend to the collected set of data, calculating the proportion and standard deviation for the population so as to accurately determine if the right sample size was used and can make the data collection statistically significant (Warne et al., 2012). Hypothesis testing was also done to assess whether the users of cloud computing experienced various loopholes in the cloud computing system and whether this resulted to malicious attack on their data.

Why to include the collected data in the research project?

The collected data should be included in the research project due to its ability to accurately answer research questions, ability to repeat and validate the study, lack of or minimal distortion and biasness from the participants on the data collected and high relevance of the data collected to the research topic. For instance, the research was collected from vendors and users of cloud computing where it was discovered that many users use weak passwords on their accounts, some users are computer illiterate and may make changes to the system that they cannot comprehend while some users are also ignorant of their systems.
