Design Thinking

Over the course of the lectures I have been able to get a clear view of the concept of design thinking, which is the methodology through which designers solve some of the complex problems that are facing their organizations by coming up with solutions that are often embraced by their clients (Lockwood, 2014). In addition, I learnt the five main stages of design thinking, which include empathizing, defining the problem that exists, ideation, setting up a prototype and testing the potential solutions to the existing problem.

In case design thinking is embrace within our organization, then I am convinced that it stands to benefit mainly because it is founded on several concepts such as logic, imagination, intuition and systemic reasoning. Embracing the principles above can no doubt have positive consequences on our organization given that through them, our team will be coming up with ideal solutions to the problems that we face as an organization along with our clients.

To this end, I am considering focusing my capstone project on some of the steps that we can always take to incorporate technology in ensuring that we live a healthy life. Another sector that I intend to focus on is the use of healthy diets in the management of chronic illness. I am still weighing other options, but I aspire to settle on my final capstone topic soon.

In both instances, the interests of clients are taken into consideration given that both technology and healthy diets will make them healthier. The main objective of the two projects outlined above is to ensure that the public is well educated on positive and negative lifestyle decisions.
