Case Study: J.M. Smucker
Institution:
Ethics is one of the things which should be considered for the purposes of ensuring that businesses are run in the best way possible. However, ethics would be important for a company like Smucker due to the fact that it will ensure that the employees are motivated to work for the success of the business. Moreover, the focus of the company on ethics can improve its performance by ensuring that the morale of the employees is improved (Lee, 2019). Again, the focus of the company on ethics can improve its performance by ensuring that the team work is enhanced in the business. This plays important roles in ensuring that the goals and the objectives of the business are achieved (Oswald, 2020).
On the other hand, appearing on “best places to work” list is beneficial in that it ensures that the morale of the employees is improved. Again, appearing in this list is beneficial in that it ensures that ideas are shared therefore contributing to the success of the business. Moreover, appearing in the list has drawbacks in that it might end up discouraging some of the employees in an organization. As far as I am concerned, I feel that it is generally beneficial to be publicly recognized as a good employer due to the fact that it will help in ensuring that the other employees are encouraged to work harder. Finally, Smucker’s culture does not appeal to me as a potential employee because it does not provide an effective structure on the manner in which tasks should be carried out (Stewart, 2019).
