How has my race impacted my experience in the world?
As far as the issue of my race is concerned, it is no doubt that it has made me see myself as a different person from other races from a certain perspective (Tatem, 1997). We live in a global village where races have become more diverse thus calling for every race to embrace the others. However, my experience in the world has been influenced due to the fact that I see some of other races as superior and some inferior.
What do the articles suggest about my relative privileges or disadvantages?
The article suggests that some of my privileges should be lessened to meet other races or to come to almost the same level with other races. The articles believe in one common value, and that is the embracement of all races with the intention of making sure that equality in the society is enhanced.
Do I agree with these?
I agree with the articles, and the reason for doing so is because they have both addressed an issue that is common and present in the modern society.
Have I experienced this?
Despite one not being racial, the perception of privileges that revolves around the society affects him or her in one way or another. For example, when it comes to the white privileges, even if a white person does not embrace the perception, others treat him or her as so, and therefore I have experienced this.
Is there anything new that I recognize now that I didn’t before?
I have recognized that the issue of racialism is rampant than one could have ever thought. Looking at the articles, there are points noted down which shows that though many might be running away from the issue of racialism, it is still affecting the society (Tatem, 1997). A good example can be seen by the way the articles have focused on privileges and segregation in some of the most used government institutions.
