Through out the years, there have been various changes in healthcare. These changes are continuous and are showing changes across different levels of healthcare.

Research has shown Millennials make up the largest generation in the workforce.

Most millennials are likely to be foreign and have another language as their first language other than English.

38% of the millennials identify with being from different ethnicity and race other than non-Hispanic white

Changes in healthcare have ensures that various diseases and infections are controlled and also ensured that more people have access to health care . With technology and innovation there has been an increased in better patient outcomes, life expectancy and quality of life .

Historical Information on Healthcare Workforce

Baby Boomers made most of the workforce in the past decade, but most of this generation has reached the retirement age.

It is the second-largest group after the millennials. It causes an increase in nursing demands as this generation is more prompt to chronic diseases.

The aging population also affects the nursing levels as aging and experienced nurses leave and retire from the healthcare field.

The majority of this generation are white, while other races have a smaller percentage.

Generation X is males up the working labor force, with more people likely to reach the retirement age in the coming years. Rising retirement numbers will lead to an increase in healthcare needs and demands.

Baby boomers are a big part of the history of healthcare,. With the aging population it also effects the levels of care as those individuals reach retirement age and leave the healthcare field. When this happens the openings are usually filled with new and younger healthcare workers. The ACA provides that every individual has access to quality and effective care. Through the policies it ensures that the patients wellbeing is maintained, improved and protected .There is also a major shift in patients demographics characterized by an aging population with more healthcare needs and demands .

Over the past decade, the government's involvement in healthcare has increased

.For example, Healthcare has adopted the Affordable Care Act Policies have and integrated them into healthcare over the decade.

Through the ACA, there have been various identifiable changes in legislation and policies that have been and implemented.

For example, the ACA has changed the healthcare payment systems by modifying the rates to ensure affordable care (Klecun, 2016).

The Policies also have provided broader population access to healthcare and protected people with pre-existing conditions. These also include providing patients' information is confidential and promoting the wellbeing of a patient.

An aging population of baby boomers characterizes the changes in the population

These changes influence the type of healthcare needs and demand. The legislative and policies come up with laws and regulations that act as the guidelines for healthcare. The ACA provides that every individual has access to quality and effective care. Through the policies, it ensures that the patient's wellbeing is maintained, improved, and protected. There is also a significant shift in patients demographics characterized by an aging population with more healthcare needs and demands.

Patient-centered care involves providing care with respect and dignity and ensuring that the patients actively participate in their care and decision-making.

Patient-centric approaches ensure that the particular medical services offered to the patient are guided by healthcare exert and consider the patients' values and needs.

Patients now days are now open to more information about their illness and viable options for treatment.

Every patient is unique and has unique health care needs; hence, patient-centered care ensures that the patient is the primary priority.

In todays day and age the internet is a significant source of information, as patients can research and gather information on their condition before receiving care.

The use of the internet ensures access to more news, knowledge on the best practices in providing care, the symptoms they may be experiencing, and the possible medications

The care provided must prioritize the patient's wellbeing. The internet has increased communication and access to information; hence, patient education and disease awareness can be done across different platforms. Physicians and healthcare providers can use the internet to promote patient health care education.

Challenges with Changing Healthcare Workforce

As more and more baby boomers are retiring, there will be a gap in the level of experienced nurses, and the lack of new talents will cause a significant challenge to the nursing field.

An increased number of older people are backing out of the workforce. Challenges may occur as the skilled and experienced workforce may comprise older people than younger people (Imison and Castle-Clarke, 2017).

Challenges also may occur as there will be an increase in the healthcare needs as the population shifts to an aging population. Challenges with policy and legislative changes.

Challenges in the policy and legislative include every individual is required to have insurance cover. It impacts the access to healthcare, as some people may not have enough resources for insurance cover.

 

There is increased workloads as baby boomers reach the retirement age creating a gap in the availability of healthcare providers .With a changing population more chronic diseases are identified leading to an increased demand in healthcare .

Changes and shifts in the demography indicate a significant shift in healthcare needs.

The population structure has shifted dramatically, with elder generations accounting for the majority of the population.

With the elderly accounting for a majority of the people, it has significantly lead to less productivity and an increase in nursing demands.

In old age, good health is essential as it ensures one can live independently.

With the aging population, chronic disease incidence and prevalence of numerous aging-related diseases and conditions will rise. The expense of health care will rise as a result of this

There are many challenges that individuals face when it comes to healthcare. Age and is one barrier that different generations struggle with. For example elderly are not always tech savvy which prevents them from accessing online healthcare services.

The information gathered can increase anxiety in general and hinder the patient's information's from reasoning

patient may compare the information from the internet to that of the physician, hindering them from getting the proper care .Spending has included money, other funds, and resources on providing healthcare (Wang, Ashvetiya, Quaye, Parakh, and Martin, 2018).

Healthcare does not provide universal coverage to its citizens; hence some are uninsured, increasing the burden of accessing healthcare

The use of the internet by the patient exposes them to inaccurate information. There is a lack of quality and reliability in online sources. Authors of medical material published on social networking networks are frequently unknown or have insufficient information to identify them. Furthermore, medical data could be unreferenced, incomplete, or informal.

In past years , there was no formal teaching or training for the healthcare workforce.

Currently, healthcare has shifted to a medical, scientific, technological, and bureaucratic system.

To be a healthcare provider, one needs to have the required degree, certificates, and continuous education

There has been various changes and improvements in healthcare over the decade, and this includes technology integration.

Technology has ensured more access to information, better communication, data storage, and ease of providing care.

Access to information has helped increased virtual care, remote patient monitoring, and care coordination, which improves healthcare.

Virtual care has significantly led to better patient outcomes through correct diagnosis and treatment.

Quality Services

With technology, advancement in tools, and education and research, there has been an improvement in the quality of care provided.

The care provided has shifted to patient-centered care hence ensures that they are better healthcare outcomes.
