What makes a Speech memorable?      How are speeches analyzed?     What challenges do speechwriters face when preparing scripted speech?

· Review the “Use of Memorable Language” in the “Political Speech Writer’s Companion.” and how to annotate a speech.

· Locate Cicero Award Winning Speeches available in the Course Material and look over topics, the speakers, and the contexts/purposes for the speeches.

· Discuss the memorable language used in former President Kennedy's ungiven speech.  (Copy given in class on April 1 and is also attached as a Word document.

· Discuss the article on speechwriting provided in class during Session 10: "Chapter 35, The Value of Effective Speech Writing, by L. Huebner

· Discuss the notes provided in class during Session 10: "Notes: Chapter 49, Writing for the Ear: The Challenge of Effective Speechwriting" L. Huebner
