Instructions

1. Watch the video: Navigate Brightspace Learning Environment - Discussions.

2. Navigate to the discussion topic link below.  Scroll to the top. Read the instructions to start a new thread.

3. Write a biography of yourself and post it.  Your biography should be about 250 words.

4. Label your posting [Your name] Autobiography. Thus, if your name were John Doe, your posting would be labeled: John Doe Autobiography.

a. Use these questions as a guideline for what to write or talk about:

i. Your name and city of residence.

ii. A description of your faith journey

iii. Your employer and job responsibilities.

iv. A description of the experiences you have had that may be helpful for other students in your cohort.

v. Something about your family, pets, hobbies, etc.

b. Type (or copy and paste) your written biography or post your video biography link into the message area for the posting.  Do not attach a separate document to the discussion board.

You come to this class, and your new venture as a student at Indiana Wesleyan University, with a unique set of God-given gifts and talents.  In this first workshop, we will reflect on those gifts and talents and how God might be using this college student experience to prepare you for a specific purpose that is beyond your wildest dreams.

1.5 Goal Setting and Motivation

Instructions

1. Read Chapters 1 and 2 in Foundations of College Success.

2. Watch the CourseConnect Lesson Presentation media: Goal Setting and Motivation

3. Now imagine that your story is going to be part of a video.  Write a paragraph (or approximately 300 words) describing what you want and how your college education can help you get it. See the Paragraph Sample and Structural Outline for Creating a Paragraph for an example.

4. Open a Word document. Complete your paragraph. Save the document to your computer. 

5. Submit a copy to your instructor using the Assignment Dropbox (Turnitin will be enabled) by the end of the workshop.
