Introduction

Mixed marriages have been on the rise due to the continuous interactions of the people.

· Over 37% of Americans are married to people of different races, ethnicity and religion (Connolly & McDonald, 2017).

· Divergence in mixed marriages causes differences. People come from different cultural differences; thus, they exhibit differences

· Increased communications, adjustments, and complementing each other reduces intercultural differences in marriages.

Background information

Intercultural have high occurrences of failure than single cultural marriages.

· When left unsolved, the differences led to failed marriages and increased suffering among children among older couples (Connolly & McDonald, 2017).

Body

Increased communication lowers differences in marriages.

· Increased communication reduces stereotyping between the couple.

· A couple can formulate a regime of communication in family activities (Eicker, 2017)

· Dialogue creates an understanding of various differences that would occur due to cultural diversity.

Secondly is an adjustment by the couples to fit in their partner’s culture.

· The man and the woman must make efforts to adjust to their partners’ culture and ways of socialization.

· The adjustments can involve learning a new language in cases of interracial marriages. In cases, the couple have diverse racial groups; they can make efforts by learning religious believes (Connolly & McDonald, 2017).

Thirdly, is compromising of ideas within the marriage.

· The couples appreciate the needs of each other and make agreements. Either the man or the woman must forego his opinion for the spouse to take the lead.

· The action promotes the self-esteem of the spouse and morale in the marriage since they feel that their lovers appreciate their culture (Eicker, 2017).

In summation, communication, adjustments, and compromising forms the basis of reducing differences in cross-cultural marriages.

· The partners must develop a point of understanding through coordinated dialogues.
