CLASSROOM OBSERVATION:

John Hustead teaches a Pre-AP Chemistry class with the expectation that all students will be prepared for the more rigorous AP Chemistry class the next year.  He calls on students randomly during the ‘warm-up’ period to ensure all students are prepared to answer any question. His strategy of performing an experiment and then having students simulate that experiment in a lab setting provides the novice teacher with a strong model for working with students in a science environment.

TASK- View video and complete observation reflection

Effective teachers always reflect on the lesson, and lesson outcomes.  Listen as the teacher reflects on this lesson, and compare it to the responses you have written on the observation worksheet. Use both the teacher’s reflections and your own observation when writing your overall observational reflection.
