From student J.F.

Good evening Professor and class,

How would you improve the survey itself to create the very best snapshot of student impressions of this or any Chamberlain University Online Course?

Overall, I think the survey is pretty spot on how it reflects the impressions of

Chamberlain University Online Courses. However, where I think it can improve is allow for written areas on some of the scaled ratings. This would allow students to give a numeric rating and to explain why they felt the way they did. I feel like there is not enough areas in the survey to explain one’s feelings.

Which questions would you have added and why?

The first question that I would put in the survey is, how do you think this course is applicable to your career and how to you plan on using the information you learned? I feel like this would help give back feedback on what the students learned and if they truly grasped the material.

The second question I would ask is, what topics or concepts do you find intriguing? What topics or concepts did you find difficult? I feel like this would help better set up future sessions for success, because the professor could evaluate what the strengths and weaknesses of the class were.

What questions would you keep the same and why? What questions would you changes and why?

Overall, I think the questions on the survey are all necessary. I do feel like they can be opened up for written reasoning though. As I mentioned above, it would help support why the student gave the rating they did. But besides that, I feel like the surveys provide the necessary feedback for everyone that is needing it. As mentioned in the article Building an And-of-Course Survey- An Efficient Means of Ensuring Quality,

“The results of the end of course critique or course feedback, as it is sometimes called, are, at least theoretically, used afterwards by the teacher who teaches the course, a supervisor, a member of the faculty management, or anyway, one of the decision makers regarding that course in order to analyze the overall quality of the course given by the teacher’s performance and the degree in which the goals and objectives initially set were also met” (Tutuianu, Chisega-Negrila, 2013, p323).

I feel that the surveys that we provide, give our Professors and the appropriate staff the feedback that they need.
