Project Management - in IT and Development

A Project is a solution to a problem.

The management of a project is a heavily involved process, inclusive of initiating, executing, controlling, and closing the project.

Project Management is the practice of creating/understanding the scope - requirements + constraints - of a problem, and then coming up with a solution for the problem - designing, testing, deploying the solution, before pushing into production (i.e. Training, post-deployment fixes, etc).

IT & Software Development PM is about walking a project from ideation through execution, including the ORR (Operational Readiness Review) before handing off to production.

Agile Method

TechaaService LLC

TechaaService is small IT and Business management company, focusing on creating technical solutions, to solve real-world business problems, for organizations in both public and private sectors.

TaaS is made up of teams of sub-contractors that are experts in their fields - this is to provide our customers with the best talent available.

For the creation of this Records Management application, we will be putting together a team including: Senior Technical Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Senior Azure Architect, mid-level Azure Architect, and mid-level ServiceNow developer.

Project Summary

TaaS has been tasked by DepHealth Corp to design a custom application for records management. DHC policy says that all employee emails and files are considered official company record - based on employee level, their records are to be maintained by DHC for either 3 years, 7 years, or 10 years. The company is also required to keep the records of any employees or former employees that are under an open litigation (until the litigation is closed).

TaaS will be using the Microsoft Azure cloud to build a custom application for DHC, that will satisfy all of their requirements.

This application will have a internal web-interface for information management by stakeholders; behind the GUI will be a centralized system of databases - for each set of data. The application will include a built in storage solution for inactive data to be stored (at a cost-efficient rate). System integration with the existing MS O365 environment and the existing ServiceNow environment will be completed via available APIs. This will allow for assisted automation in the workflow, when system users put in requests for actions to be taken on specific user accounts.

We will be using the Agile method - development and testing will occur simultaneously. The sprints will be pushed only in the test environment, to verify funcitonality.

Agile method - This method assists teams in responding to the unpredictability of developing software. It uses incremental, iterative work sequences that are commonly known as sprints.
