Hello everyone, my name is Shemekia Griffin, currently residing in Davenport, IA. I am a 42-year-old mother of four daughters. They are 25, 24, 20, and 17. My grandsons are 5 and 1, my only granddaughter is 8 months. I have been in the ECE field for the past 20 years and have worked with children from birth to five.

I am currently the fulfillment lead at Sam’s club. I would love to venture off to working with 1st graders, I want to work my up until I find the grade that I fall in love with. I have a passion for being a part of the growth and development of small children. Building long lasting relationships are one of the most precious things that I love about educating small children. I still communicate with some of my families who children were 2 years old and now they are in fourth and 5 grade.     

               I believe that this course will help me gain a better understanding of what really matters and goes on behind the scenes in this field. As an educator, I didn’t see what all it took to have a successful early childhood program. Although my main focus is to become an educator, I hope to gain enough knowledge from this course that would allow me to venture off in a new direction and give in a deeper understanding of how the administrator side of things looks. I am 30 credits away from my bachelor’s degree, and I am excited to see what new doors will open for me in the early childhood education field. I am looking forward to this continuing journey and meeting new people along the way.
